This major was founded in 1970 and was originally named Microelectronics. In 1999, Microelectronics was changed to Electronic Science and Technology according to the new discipline catalog of the Ministry of Education.

There are eighteen full-time teachers in this major, including three professors, thirteen associate professors, and sixteen teachers with doctoral degrees. Among the full-time teachers, there is one national-level talent, two teachers belong to Hebei Province Hundred-Talent Program, one Hebei Province Special Post Expert, one Hebei Province Outstanding Youth, two Hebei Province Youth Top-notch talents, one Hebei Province Excellent Teacher, one Hebei Province Hundred-Innovative Talent.

The major of Electronic Science and Technology relies on the master degree in the first level discipline of electronic science and technology, the national new energy optoelectronic devices joint engineering laboratory, the national virtual simulation experiment center, and the key laboratory of brain-inspired neural devices and systems in Hebei Province. According to the demand of national development strategy and integrated circuit industry, and combined with the disciplinary development direction of our school, this major has formed two development directions，which are the design and manufacturing of integrated circuit and microelectronic device, respectively. The curriculum of this major is reasonable and the system is complete, which creates good conditions for the cultivation of students' comprehensive quality and employment.
